The weather has been beautiful, sunny and cool, and the forecast is for the same throughout the show.

The numbers are decent. I hear that about 2400 horses. This is down about 200 from last year. A 10% decrease is substanial but the numbers are still very respectable given historical numbers.

I am very conflicted about photographing the halter classes. There are lots of beautiful horses here but I don't appreciate how they are presented.

My eye is more attracted to the interaction of the horses and trainers than of the presentation and standup.

Graat Photo Dick! Happy to see your thread, thought you were on strike this year.

Dick,

Thank you for posting these pictures. I love the little dog! Our trainer, Julie Inghram, got to go out to watch the show. She is flying back in today, I can't wait
to hear what she has to say. I so wish that we could go out there sometime. The senery is beautiful. I would anticipate that the numbers would be down
this year, but sounds like there were a lot of horses there.

Do you know how many dresssage horses were there? Did you meet anyone from the midwest? The halter horse that you pictured almost looks like it has a
smile one it's face. You did a great job in capturing the expression. What were some of the opinions of the crowd there about the effects of the economy on
the horse world?

Great job! Do you have more?

Thanks for taking the time to post your wonderful pics. Shows are just now the same without your "From My Perspective" threads! Congrats on a good showing of TA Monet, who looked wonderful. We hope Wendye and Snow have some incredible rides out there. We will be cheering for TA Mahogany and we can't wait until the live cams for reining go up tomorrow. Best of luck to you all!

Thank you for the pictures Dick. When we can't be there it is wonderful to be able to see what is happening. I personally like the candid photos better than any ring shot because they give the true feel of the show.

I've been feeling the same about the halter for many years. I used to go specifically to watch that. For the past 5 or so years I got uneasy watching the classes and started spending my time at different rings. I would much rather see the horses relaxed and interacting positively with their handler than the way they are presented in the ring. One of the things as an arab owner that I love about the horses is they each have their own individual personality and expressions. The halter presentation in my opinion strips them of that personality. Thanks for bringing it back!

Thank you for the pictures Dick! And congratulations on the Toskhara bred TA Giovanni going CHAMPION in Arabian Reining JTR 14-17 and FIRST out of FIFTEEN in Arabian Reining 14-17 with Skylar Powell. They also got a SECOND in Reining Seat Eq. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of those two would you?

I don't have a photo from here but I do have one from Youth Nationals.

I talked to Larae and she said that Skylar had done all the training on Giovanni. They purchased him last year here at Scottsdale and Larae has only been on him twice. She said Skylar loves Giovanni and vice versa. We are thrilled.

He is beautiful, Dick. And has done so well in Training level already.

I have to ask -- why Training level this year as well?
