Product Overview Cumbersome ice packs and hosing were once the only options to fight pain following injury or surgery. The RecoveryWrap-Equine System combines the benefits of ice with constant compression therapy, delivered through a specially designed wrap that attaches easily to a horse's leg or hock. Used in 30-minute cycles at regular intervals, it reduces recovery time and accelerates the healing of damaged tissue. Applied after a rigorous workout, the RecoveryWrap-Equine System can actually prevent strains from becoming full-blown injuries. Comes with rechargeable battery. The RecoveryWrap-Equine System is ideal for: - Post-workout cool-down
- Reducing inflammation
- Recovery from tendon or ligament injury
- Post-surgical recovery
- Treating lameness
Applying cold therapy can improve a variety of tendon, joint, muscle and other soft tissue injuries by decreasing blood flow to the damaged area and slowing the metabolism of the surrounding tissue, reducing the chance that it will suffer damage from swelling and constriction. Using cold and compression to prevent injury Combining cold and compression therapy can curb exercise-induced inflammation. After a tissue injury, there is an immediate chemical reaction at the cellular level. Damaged capillaries leak cellular waste (water, dissolved electrolytes, and proteins) into the surrounding tissue. The body then sends scavenger cells into the injury site. Once the process starts, fluids build in the intercellular spaces causing swelling, a condition known as edema. Rapidly applying cold therapy to injured tissue limits the inflammatory response by causing the blood vessels to constrict. This limits the blood flow to the injured site, moderating the release of the vasoactive substances and minimizing pain and swelling in the afflicted area.
